Absolutely fantastic

Posted by tony on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

I recently came back from my holidays in Skiathos and had a tremendous time. Normally I wouldn’t mention the finest beaches in Greece, the mouthwatering grilled black bream with lemon and olive oil and the smell of pine on those balmy summer nights. These are the things commonly associated with Greece and are to be expected.

Also to be expected, unfortunately, are small, pine effect, mosquito infested, plumbing affected accommodation … Not anymore, the Cape Pounta Villas are the finest on the island, with a commanding view, great pools and little touches such as the Korres products in the bathrooms, state of the art home entertainment and the most comfortable cocomat beds. The owner, Diamantis, has built these villas and furnished them beautifully and I would recommend them to anyone (which I am).

So if you are planning on going to Greece and there are upwards of four of you then it may be worth looking at these. Here is the link and an aerial view is above.

Football and it is all for charity.

I’ve finally got a date for our next charity football competition - Saturday the 1st of December 2007.

The inaugural charity tournament on May 19th this year went exceedingly well. Out of the 16 teams on show, the majority probably wouldn’t have passed a late fitness test for a Subbuteo contest, but everyone had high expectations. The Blackbridge sponsored organiser team managed to concede seven against the Lounge Group and were knocked out in the qualifiers. But the cream rose to the top in the final, where a very competent News International team put the now hotly tipped second favourites the Lounge Group to the sword 4-1.

Our lovely hosts across the road in the White Horse pub, put on a few beers and pizzas and the FA Cup Final. The BB team at least led the way in that respect - five Meatfeast Pizzas to everyone else’s three.

Most importantly the day raised £874 pounds - £437 for the Francis House Childrens Hospice in Didsbury and £437 for the British Heart Foundation.

The next event will be held at the Finsbury Leisure Centre in Clerkenwell, not far from Farringdon station. If anyone is interested in joining in for a good cause, just drop me an email - tony@blackbridge.co.uk - and I’ll send you the details, the more the merrier!

Rumour has it that the summer event may be at the The Valley…
